Bitmanagement wins contract for new R&D project 3DLiveVis

Berg near Munich, March 9th, 2015

3DLiveVis - Development of an advanced BIM method for 3D Live visualization of mass data for monitoring in-house logistics areas

The aim of the project 3DLiveVis is to develop with the software technology of Bitmanagement and the standardization know-how from the Web3D consortium a dynamical version of the BIM standard. An example can be the Hanseatic Haven Magdeburg as a dynamic BIM model.

Large building complexes as well as logistics infrastructures are now using digital methods from building information modeling (BIM) for design, build-up and management. For this purpose, the relevant building data are digitally recorded as CAD and GIS models and referenced to each other. During production these models are used in large infrastructures to constantly show the updates of models for facility management. A virtual collaboration in these virtual environments enhances the building support with web-based BIM viewers.

One of the key research issues in this area thus relates to the appropriate merging of live sensor mass data visualization as a basis for new methods of motion-based process analysis, decision making and process optimization.

As part of the R & D project 3DLiveVis a control center for the special needs of handling large volume parts will be developed in large logistics infrastructure that is based on the sensor data of different stakeholders. Thus for the first time a cross-sensor data fusion within a logistics property is done with the aim of motion-based process analysis.

As a starting point of the project the 3D viewer BS Contact Geo from Bitmanagement will be used, which is optimized for near real-time 3D visualization of mass data. It was developed specifically for the needs of logistics cameras, allowing for time-synchronous recording of images. Challenging is the definition and implementation of an interface for the integration of heterogeneous sensor data (esp. video sensors) into an existing 3D environment model and the spatio-temporally synchronous 3D visualization of sensor data updates in accordance with different latencies in the sensors and communications to it, building to perform motion-based process analysis. The logistics cameras developed in the project are particularly good at responding to these needs.

About Bitmanagement Software GmbH

Bitmanagement is a provider of multimedia software with a focus on online interactive 3D visualization. The multimedia technology for 2D/3D, audio and video is real-time and Internet-ready. Based on the ISOstandard formats VRML/X3D, CityGML and COLLADA, and Java, it allows an Interactive visualization of concepts and products.

Bitmanagement develops and markets a product portfolio of visualization software, which is composed of visualization software (BS Contact VRML / X3D, MPEG-4, Geo, Stereo and Mobile), documentation (BS SDK Package) for animation and different programming tools up to Workflow optimization such as BS Encrypt.

Besides software development the company specializes on content production. The focus is here on creation of interactive online capable 3D models - mainly high resolution city models – based on a cost efficient offshore team of 3D artists.

Bitmanagement was founded in 2002 by three former employees of the Blaxxun Interactive AG, Munich. The company achieved sales growth and positive results in 2011 and is "cash flow positive" since its founding.

Bitmanagement is a board member of the "Web3D Consortium" (USA), which is responsible for the standardization and dissemination of 3D ISO standards for the Internet. Bitmanagement is also simultaneously a member of the" 3D Consortium "for the dissemination of stereoscopic visualization.
