From version 7.0 of BS Contact VRML/X3D, it is now possible to render high resolution (up to 4096 x 4096 pixel) screenshots of the BS Contact window to either the JPEG or BMP format. The render resolution is independent of both the display and 3D window resolutions. In this way, BS Contact can produce image resolutions suitable for large format printing and photo retouching - output previously only possible from high-end 3D animation and rendering applications.
To render to bitmap, simply use the right mouse button context menu Tools > Render Bitmap.
A dialog box will appear, allowing selection of the output resolution, path, filename and JPEG quality. After clicking the Browse button you may select either BMP or JPG from the Save as type drop-down list.
Clicking the Render Bitmap button commences the rendering process. Depending on the resolution selected, the image will be rendered in stages (tiles) each comprising a different area of the 3D window. The progress of the rendering is displayed in the browser status bar.
